Another Year Older
Today the woman who brought me into this world, who cares for me, protects me, and always has my back is 1 year older. It is her birthday and no amount of sappy cards or flowers will EVER be enough to represent my gratitude for everything she has done for me. My mother isn’t like other mothers. When I was in my 20’s about to marry my first husband and told her that I didn’t ever want to have children, she didn’t nag or tell me that I would change my mind. She told me that as much as she would like to have grandchildren, she understood and respected my decision. This has been my mother throughout my entire life, full support… always. When I left my abusive second husband with two children in tow, she came to my rescue. My mother has ALWAYS been there for me. She is literally my best friend. There is nothing I can’t tell her and I always respect her decisions. I am grateful for the privilege of being her daughter, for the privilege of having her in my life, and for the privilege of her love and wisdom. So, thank you, momma…. for the privilege of you! Happy Birthday!
